By now it should be blatantly obvious

Shanahan needs to leave.

In reality this week's game shouldn't have been meaningful in any way. The Broncos were incredibly lucky to have any chance to make the playoffs this year after squeaking out a win against New Orleans thanks to a missed field goal and being given a win they didn't earn in their first meeting against the Chargers.

The Broncos have now gone two years without a winning record and three years without a playoff appearance.

Apologists will come out with a myriad of excuses, sure the Broncos had a rash of injuries this season. The fact is that they played poorly even when at full strength early in the year. Anybody looking back objectively on those games at the beginning of the season will be able to see that.

In tonight's game Tatum Bell was able to give the Broncos a credible running threat despite any injuries to other backs. The Broncos still lost. The fact that a player that Shanahan had previously tossed aside for no real reason gave the Broncos an extra arrow in their quiver tonight is ironic to say the least.

The Broncos defense is absolutely terrible, but it is terrible due to Shanahan's decisions. He has ran out multiple defensive coordinators to hide his own shortcomings. Larry Coyer managed a respectable and at times dominant Denver defense before he was fired as a scapegoat to cover up Shanahan's ineptitude. Shanahan is also completely incapable of drafting or otherwise acquiring defensive talent. Draft picks were wasted on offensive players when they weren't needed. Blame was constantly shifted away from its source.

It's time for Shanahan to go, he will continue to hold this franchise back.

i think this may be the straw that broke the camels back! how do you start 4-0 and wind up in a race to 8-8? the only reason we are out is because we lost to the chiefs!

I am a colorado native transplanted to arizona. I have more hope for the cardinals than the broncs as long as he is at the helm!

I am in complete agreement with you. all of my friends think I am a wack job because they think shanahan is some type of genius. The facts are since Elway and please don't forget Terrell Davis have been gone or not at full strength (Davis) the Broncos have been mediorcre at best. They have talent but must have new leadership. it is not that i hate mike shanahan. I do appreciate what he brought to this team, but every coach wears out there welcome sometime or another. it is time for mike to realize this and go.
Does everybody not realize that it has been 10 yrs. since we went to a super bowl?
Every year it's a different excuse. I'm sure this year will be we had tons of running backs on the DL. Should that even matter in shanahans offense where he thinks he can get rid of good running backs and just plug another one in?
Seriously, what is Mr. bowlen thinking.
Right now there is a great coach out there that has taken 2 yrs off to revitalize himself in Bill Cowher. Lets make the change!!!!

If they draft an offensive skill position on the 1st day of the draft this year, I think the world will hear me scream.

Get some defense! And get Shanny replaced with a coach that builds a "tough" team, cause that's the Broncos' holdup right now. They can't match many college teams hit for hit, much less NFL squads. That's not even getting into the mental side of it, where his team does nothing but play down to the level of their competition.

Look at the games they lost. Oakland at home??? Buffalo at home? Jacksonville at home? Kansas City...anywhere? Half their losses this year, against teams that there's NO EXCUSE to lose to.

Underperforming's one thing, but if the coach can't motivate players to win the games that they should be winning, he's gotta go.

After the San Diego implosion Shanahan lovers can't say with a straight face the Bill's game was a fluke.

The Bills game PROVED that a coach that can't get fired has a team with absolutely NO sense of urgency.

At least the Chargers made the Broncos face the music that a team has to play BEYOND THE SCRIPTED PLAYS that open the game.

Any Shanahan lover who thinks for one moment that he will have a bonanza defensive draft next year and everything will be rainbows needs professional help.

The defense you have seen in the last two games were all teleported players from the Indy playoff losses. 15 yard soft zones and mistackles galore NO the defense will be the same as it was then as it is today as long as Shanahan is head coach.

Shanahan has lost the mojo, and Denver simply has a problem letting go of the past. Since moving to Denver six years ago, I have been trying to develop loyalty for the Broncos, yet I am baffled by this continued loyalty. I came from St. Louis, where after two Super Bowl appearances and one championship, Mike Martz lost his job when it became clear he was done. Shanahan, by contrast, seems to have better tenure protection than Ward Churchill. He benched a quarterback who was 7-3, coming off an AFC championship game season, and third highest passer rating in the league, as well as a .744 winning percentage. He inserted a completely unproven rookie with no exemplar college credentials, and has gone on to three mediocre seasons. On top of this, he guaranteed Denver would make the playoffs. Will he walk away with some integrity left? No. Will Denver show him the door? No. Why? Why? Why? Let go of the past, Denver. Let go.

I wish Bowlen would sell the Broncos to Elway and Elway sells the Crush. Shake up the "Snowglobe" and start a new chapter without Shanahan.

Shanahan sucks his play calling leaves me shakening my head every game. Always seems when in red zone trys to pass instead of pounding the ball with a proven running game and they get picked. He has no control over his quaterback who pouts and throws a temper tantrume like my three year old when things go wrong. His defense is terrible where the hell is the blitz any idiot can see the linebackers can't match up in coverage. Can't even try to change things up after half time. The kicked what the hell is wrong with that guy. Mike Shanahan time has come fire the bum.

Shanahan should of been gone a few years ago. The so called "mastermind" is not in Denver he now lives 1100 miles south in Houston...Kubiak. He is th ereal offensive mastermind. Shanahan doe s have 1 thing going for him, his EGO, this is why the Broncos lose, it is never his fault always someone elses. We need a no nonsense coach in her who can access talent. I for one would love Cower. We will never win again win Mikey as coach. We do have talent, but we are a ship at sea without a rudder, forever at drift. Pat Bowlen needs to take a step back and do what is best for the team as Mike will never step.. Just my 2 cents worth

Pssst...hey Bowlen. Let me in on a little secret: BILL COWHER is on the market and I believe if you ask nicely he'll jump at the chance to coach in Denver.

finally i have found a site that speaks reason. I have watched every denver game for I don't know how long, and I have never seen a more helpless squad than the one I see now.
Somehow, the media has made a God/Genius of Shanahan and I can't for the life of me understand it. He has no adaptation skills in the game. If something is not working, so what, run it again and again and again. If I see one of those stupid dump off passes to the sideline again, that goes for negative 1 yard (or as in last nigh an interception) I am going lose it.
When Denver lost Kubiac everything fell apart. I want to like cutler, but I am just not understanding the media's love for this guy either. So what if he has a ton of yards. He reminds me a lot of Favre but without the long ball accuracy. You can't make the superbowl with a quarterback that throws interceptions and or fumbles at least twice a game, no matter how many yards he accumulates. I think if Kubiac was still around Cutler would be better, but as of right now, he has played worse than the man he replaced, Plummer.
One last thought, Rod Smith was once quoted as saying that about 90 percent of the time, Elway changed Shanahan's plays that were called in. I dont know if that is just audibles or if that means in the huddle as well.

Amen. Get Marty Schottenheimer as GM and Bill Cowher as HC.

Shanny has lost it. Thanks for your efforts 10 years ago. "Time for Change"

I think the problem is that Pat Bowlen accidentally borrowed a shiny black track suit from Al Davis and some of his craziness absorbed into Bowlen's skin. Now Pat thinks that it is still 1998 and that Elway is simply late for practice.

Same with Shanny. His ego is out of control as is his team. They are soft and fold like a cheap tent is punched in the mouth by the other team.

The beat goes on...as does the slurping of the Orange Soda that the local media and fans seem to enjoy. Coach 4 Life is NEVER wrong!

No one can take his place!

yes..I agree. I am a Broncos fan til death. I live in Virginia now, where Redskins and Steelers fan run rampant, but I stay faithful to my Mile High Team.

I have a pennant hanging up where the Broncos won back to back Super Bowls, and who was in charge..Mike.

The Broncos have come and gone so far with Shanahan, and now it's time for him to go! Thanks for the good times Mike, time to retire!

Any year when the Broncos are humiliated by the Oakland Raiders at home is a year that calls for...

Mike Shanahan should consider himself lucky to have kept his job this long. He should retire before he gets fired because there should be no way that he honestly feels that he deserves the job. FIRE him now so we can get a new coach ASAP to save us!

I agree totally that Shanahan needs to go. How many more years does it take for Bowlen to keep him. They must be the BFF or what? New blood is needed and it seems there have been some very good quarterbacks that in my opinion do not take well to Shanahan. Jeeze he even made Plummer want to quit football entirely. What a motivator!!! He needs to go.

Next season is nothing to look forward to. Outside of the division, we play the Patriots, the Colts, the Steelers, the Ravens, the Giants, the Cowboys, the Eagles, and the Redskins. Not to mention we play the Chargers not once but twice. With our defense, we'll be lucky if we finish 6-10.

It makes me sick to think that Shanahan will be moving into a palace that makes Tony Montana's mansion in the movie Scarface seem pretty modest. Especially in this time of economic hardship where average joes are losing their jobs, losing their homes, and struggling to get by.

Guess what that Fucker got fired!! FINALLY!!!

The Denver D has more holes than a Cheese shop. Denver scored plenty of points but their defense ranked among the worst in the league. I don't know if firing the Han will fix anything if they don't address the defensive situ. OUT
