guess you can take down your site now

I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised today. Now the big question is who is coming in to replace him? Bill Cowher anyone?

Anonymous said...

This is THE WORST DECISION Pat Bowlen has ever made. Now, these fickle Denver fans will know what life is like without Shanny. I can't wait to hear them complain next year.... bunch of ingrates..!!

Anonymous said...

See what you've done? :p

Anonymous said...

Bill Cowher is but one of many options. Fassel and Schottenheimer are also good options. Maybe Marty can get a swing in on San Diego before his time is up.

The suffering has been long, but now let's see a page turned.

Bronco Brett signing off here.

You got your wish, Shanny was fired. I still support my backing of the only coach in Bronco history to win a Super Bowl. You may say he rode Elway to that... but Elway played for 3 coaches and only one won a SuperBowl. I found this website more than 4 years ago. 4 years ago, the Broncos were going to the playoffs every year and even made it 1 game away from the SuperBowl.. yet according to you it was always luck. That, and the fact you never gave him credit for the TWO SB wins bothered me then and it bothers me today.
The fact is that Shanny tried to start over with Cutler, and it just hasn't been clicking yet. I agree, this team should have made the playoffs and maybe it will be time for a change.

No tears from Bronco Brett on this day, just a "Thanks" to Shanny for all his years for the Broncos. I hope now Jake, you can use your time for something more positive in your life.

As I said in my first letter to you, The Truth Shall set you free!

Go Broncos!
Bronco Brett

Let me tel you as a Jet fan I pray the Jets grab Shanahan. He is really the only coach in the NFL who consistantly was able to beat the Parcelles / Bellichick teams. My guess is he will end up in Dallas

Anonymous said...

He actually did a nice job with that crap team. No running backs no D Line. He chose the brightest young QB and was a wizard running the ball. I think this was a mistake.

Looks like you got your wish. We'll see if the new coach can make our defense better while fitting his scheme in with Cutler, Marshall, Royal, and Stokely. I don't want three more "rebuilding" years, and I'm sure neither do you.

Shanahan the coach was let down by Shanahan the GM. It's as simple as that. Yes, Mike was still an effective coach (although that could be debated) at times but the best coach in the world can't win with below average talent. And who was responsible for that talent? Mike Shanahan. It was time for a change and I for one am glad the time has finally come.

High five!

Sure, there's the possibilty of becoming the Raiders or Chiefs as we tumble from grace. But better to TRY and improve than bank on further mediocrity. Shanahan couldn't win without a powerhouse roster assembled for him by deep pockets. Send him to the Schottenheimer-built, Hall of Famer-loaded San Diego and I'm sure he'd take that team further than Norv Turner, maybe even to a Super Bowl...but when all the superstars started retiring, the team would NEVER recover under him.

Nervous about the future, but good riddance, Shanny.

Good lord, the impossible has happened and all I see is a bunch of naysayers. In the words of Vince Lombardi, "what the hell's goin' on out here?"

To all you people who measure success as "one and done" trips to the playoffs, quit telling us Broncos fans what success is. Success is going to the playoffs, winning more than one game, advancing to the Super Bowl, and winning the damn thing!

I know Shanahan won two Super Bowls with the Broncos and we are grateful. But that was 10 years ago! You have to let the past go, people. That would be like the Bears holding on to their 1985 Super Bowl victory.

Look, the Broncos would not have won those two Super Bowls without Shanahan. He brought in all the right players and things fell into place. There's no doubt that Shanahan was in top form those two years.

But time marches on and so does success. Shanahan needed this change as much as the team did. It's time for a fresh perspective. I think Shanahan will go to another team and be very successful.

My wife is a Bucs fan. I told her the Bucs need to fire Gruden and hire Shanahan. Gruden is a maniac who loathes his quarterbacks. He let that team get out of control this year. Shanahan would right that ship (no pun intended) on day one.

One more thing; I just noticed that somebody said Cutler is the "brightest young QB." Cutler is a moron. He is a premiere choker in this league. When the pressure was on this season, he choked. Look at the first San Diego game. He choked when he threw the interception and he choked when he fumbled. Anybody who throws as many interceptions as Vinny Testeverde is not bright.

Take a deep breath Broncos fans, things just got better.

Finally! Now we can really move on!

you fucking stupid piece of shit tell me one coach out there that can do a better job than mike???? you must be one of the why even waste my time stupid fuck

I find it funny how people resort to cussing and calling people morons for wanting want is best for their team. You may disagree with them about Shanahan, but we all care about the team. No coach should have Supreme Court Justice status in the NFL. 24-24 the last three seasons. Excuses every year. Firings of defensive coordinator after defensive coordinator. Continual and arrogant insistence that his way would get them to where they needed to be. This was the worst choke job I have seen yet. They had no business losing to Jacksonville, Oakland, KC, and Buffalo unless they really were the undisciplined, underachieving, poorly coached team that they have been the past three years. No other coach in the NFL would be able to hold on this long. Shanahan doesn't deserve special treatment. IT IS ABOUT TIME!

Anonymous said...

Finally!!!! This is not a bad decision people. This is good. Shanahan did give us two Super Bowls, but those days were with a Hall-of-Fame QB and great coaches around him. Look at how we have dropped since Alex Gibbs left. Look at how we have dropped since Kubiak left.

Shanahan let himself down due to ego. It was his ego that gave us Griese instead of Brister. It was his ego that drove out Plummer after Jake got us to the AFC Championship game, Shanahan's only one after Elway's retirement. His ego led to the firing of several defensive coordinators even though the defense was the reason we had winning seasons, see also Larry Conyers.

Shanahan will have a great future somewhere else - probably with the Jets. Becasue he will be somewhere else, our future just got better too!

I cant believe all these people that want that narcissistic, egomaniac Shananhan to stay. He was only successful with the right people. He cant and wont make a team like Reeves cant and will never, the team has to make them. And for this to happen you have to make the right decisions and Reeves and Shanahan are both past their prime and usefulness. Its time to move on people. I think Bowlen should have kept Kubiak and got Rid of Shanahan then.

Shanahan FANS show their TRUE COLORS...

Posts like "can wait to see the Broncos tank"

Prove they never were Broncos fans...

...better get used to those green and white Jets colors...

...Oh wait they want to talk to Cower first...

...My bad.

I am beyond pleased that this douchebag is gone. Gone, gone, gone, gone. I think this evening's stellar orange and blue sunset was mother nature's way of telling Shanahan "see ya' later, asshole". Now...if someone would buy the team from Bowlen...

He was an overrated coach if ever there was one.

Anonymous said...

Its about time! Sad to see Mike get out right fired after winning 2 SB's but his talent as a GM is awful. Any other team that hires him on as a Coach / GM is pissing away their money. Ask Bowlen how much money he spent on busts that were Mike's picks.

Anyone know Marty Shottenheimer's number? I am sure he would want to coach for a couple years and then become GM.

Thanks Mike for what you did 10 years ago. Dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out for the last 10.

Even Tom Landry was fired

Mike Shanhan was (and still is) a great football coach. However, the results the last three years speak for themselves, particularly the defensive performance the last two years.

Either the Broncos have a shortage of talent, or the players are not responding to Mike any longer.

If it's a motivation issue, a coaching change is called for.

If it's a talent issue, a coaching change is needed, since he's responsible for the personnel decisions.

So long, Mike. Thanks for all you've done for the franchise.

Let the new era begin!

According to Adam Schefter, there's no chance that Cowher will be coaching in 2009....for Denver, or anyone. So, we can all quit saying that. This is a terrible decision by Bowlen. Unfortunately all the Denver fans will have to endure 5-11 "rebuidling" seasons as the team gets used to a new system, and new coaches. What a mess!!

Anonymous said...

I'm ok with rebuilding...it needs to be done. I'll take a season of 5-11 if it means an end to year after year of late season collapses. It is time for a change.

The grass is always greener on the other side! We will see!

Some of you are just plain stupid. I realize it stems from being spoiled in many ways, but if there is no excuse for Paris Hilton, there really is not much of an excuse for you douchebags. Let's have a quick look at this. And argue it all you like, doesn't change the facts. The Broncos are now on the list of teams without a coach. Let's have a look at available coaches. Hold on a second. The best available one is the one we just fucking let go. That is just plain stupid. And now many of you retards are just shouting out the name of any coach that has a "name" in the NFL, or in some cases had. A fucking child could point out the names you guys mention. Hate to tell you, we just fired a "name". And that is what you want to replace him with. I sincerely hope it all works out in the long run, but given everything that is known at this point, this was a dumb fucking move.

Anonymous said...

I agree this was stupid. The Broncos will go decades before finding another Shanahan, He was such a bad GM except he drafeted the best tackle in the sport and had the foresight to trade up for Cutler. Really dumb

Anonymous said...

How many Season's can you stand to go 9-7, 10-6, 11-5 and then loose in the 1st game of the playoffs? Oh... two games 4 seasons back. Myself I was getting pretty sick of it. I would rather put up with a rebuilding year or two and have a team that can win the big one than this same thing year after year. Shanahan could coach a better than average season record but could not coach a team any further than that. I don't know where the 'offensive genius' ever came from, his play calling was ridiculousy stupid! I think he was a 'offensive genius' when Elway was there if you get what I mean. I have to agree with the bad comments about Cutler he makes some very bad decisions and then he yells at others and he acts like a spoiled child. Too bad, I thought he was the Quarterback of the Broncos future maybe the new coach can come in and set him straight? Shanahan's ego was getting way to big, some ex-Bronco employees say he was acting like he owned the team, I can see that! He will be a good coach for some other team and go 10-6 for several seasons (maybe Detroit) but the Broncos needed a change. Shanahan had 10 years and could not do it, time to try someone/something else. Bring Elway on as a Coach! HA!

Anonymous said...

He won with Big John when Reeves couldn't/ Having Elway was far from a guaranteed SB. He found TD and outcoached Parcells to win in 1998. He is a class act, you will regret this Ponies

Anonymous said...

There will be many regrets. I think its funny how when a team loses all of the people who show that they do not understand the game of football want a coach to be fired. These are probably the same folks who were happy when we drafted Tommy Maddox! When we are 5-11 and 1-15 they will be wanting some else fired. This is a sad day in the history of the Broncos.

Anonymous said...

I could stand to go 9-7, 10-6, hell, even 8-8 on a regular basis. And what do you know, when that is your normal standard, you end up with a season every so often like 13-3 with a chance to go to the big dance. Or we could be like the majority of teams who fluctuate from really bad records to mediocre records. We had it pretty damn good. That is why all the shock over this move exists. Sure, there always the undereducated football morons that always want the coach's head when a Super Bowl berth does not occur. That is in EveryTown, USA. I would love to see them in the big game again, but I would also like to be able to watch every game, every season and observe many more wins than losses. And that is what you had with Shanahan. Well, not anymore. Odds are we will fall into the shit-hole locale that most other franchises reside. Thanks Bowlen. I thought you were brighter than this.

Anonymous said...

Not a Sad day a happy one... no regrets... Time to move on... Shanahan was/is tired, football has passed him by he has had his 30 minutes of fame. Time for a change and new hope, tired of the same. Not new to football or the Broncos, have a deep/broad/seasoned understanding of football and of Champions and Shanahan was no longer one. Ponies won't regret... Maybe Shanny can go back to work for Al.

Oh yeah lets go 8-8, 9-7, 10-6, 15-5 and never go to the big dance wev'e done it for 10 want to do it for another 10? Your the moron...(_x_) pissed, that's you kissing my a$$

Anonymous said...

OK, Love My Dildo, we could just end up being a Lions, Bengals,Browns,Jets..........should I really go on you spoiled little bitch? And where the fuck do you get a 15-5 record from? Are you watching the same sport there, champ? And let me correct you in two ways here: You're (Short for "you are". Get an education) a moron. You say you have a seasoned understanding of the sport. I have to express my serious doubts. And by the way, I couldn't kiss your ass, your mother wouldn't remove her penis from it long enough for me to get close.

Anonymous said...

Hey Pissed Off, OMG and...

Pissed OFF you just proved your pudding! (Love my dildo!) I didn't even read your post after that. I have to ask why are you on this website??? I think you are the know it alls... and you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. Why don't you go whine on a (ilovemike.com) website. So you want to be another Seattle of many years or a Green Bay of the last 10 years. Not me I want to go have a dance in the big one and have a chance at the big shot screw this 10-6 every season and lose in the playoffs. I'd rather take a few years of a losing season and a chance to go dance than this shit. Sorry I haven't drank the 'Mike is Great' cool-aid. Your just an atogonist jerk...

Anonymous said...

Anyways doesn't matter he's gone... Thanks for the Superbowls Mike! Thanks for helping John get a couple...

By the way 'Pissed Off' I miss typed, I hit the wrong key and entered before I checked, you've never done that??? 11-5, Champ! Oooohhh....

Wow, actually I played high school, college, cfl, arena and coached for a few years. I do not coach since i was struck head on by a drunk driver. In football terms I am more qualified than you.

You guys are so pathetic with your cyber-squabbling. Grow up, please! And leave this sight for people who actually want to read about football and football opinions, not your hate-laced, immature, and obscene bickering.

What's next? Is one of you going to post "I know you are, but what am I?"

Well thank you for your insight. A site like this was made to invoke a response. I do agree with some of the ideas and opinion's of others.

Well you got your way asshole. Too bad your going to have to chage the name of this site to the next coach. probably once a year now because good old Bowlen is not going to be happy with what he gets.
